For the last couple of days I have been participating in a social media challenge called 'Meet the Maker'. Started by Joanne Hakwer, March's meet the maker challenge gives daily prompts to help small business' grow and tell their story. Here's my story:
Day 1: Brand Introduction

So day 1 of #MarchMeetTheMaker is 'Brand' and I guess I am my brand
My logo is me, based on my hair colour from last year, shockingly it has changed many times over in that time but I still think this logo represents me well and shows how colourful I am!
First and foremost I am an artist, currently doing some freelance and avidly searching for designer roles (my dream job is to be a tattoo artist though). A lot of the work here is personal to me and shows my style, which is still a work in progress really but I am enjoying the journey!
Sam as a brand is meant to be colourful and open, I aimed for quite a raw feel to my brand as I want to show diversity in what I do. I am still finding my feet as an artist so I hope you come with me as I develop as an artist.
Day 2: Style
I am still developing a style I enjoy using on a regular basis, my art style has changed a lot since I started my page. This is mostly due to access to digital means of drawing but I have always been fond of watercolour painting.
Last year I really got back into lino printing after having done it at school, and it is very therapeutic, so expect to see more lino work sprkinled in with my digital drawings. This year I decided I wanted to try embroidery, which has also proved to be fun but equally as stressful at times, so for now that may just stay as a hobby
My style has changed and grown so much, just as I have, but my most recent work is definitely going in the direction I am enjoying the most.
Day 3: Beliefs & values

I really had to think about what I, as a brand, stood for and believed in, and I came to the conclusion that I stand for myself. I try to produce art that is true to me (let's be honest, it's mostly whatever the hell I'm feeling on the day).
My art has always been a very casual hobby that I tried to turn into a side hustle back in 2016 when I opened my Etsy store. And then 2020 hit and I was left without a job. So I turned back to my store and tried to push myself more into a small business mentality.
I am my own worst enemy, but I am also my biggest supporter. I believe in myself (most days) and value my skills as an artist, so at least I can say I stay true to my beliefs and values.
I will be posting blog updates every few days with the daily prompts so I hope you come back to read the next ones! 💚
